Piper's heart and the Guinea Pig

I love this picture of Piper (taken by neighbor Nikkie Roberts) so much that I had to reuse it.

I came home the other night and Chris said Piper had some news for me. I had been at a PTO meeting and Chris had read the kids a Bible story. Then they looked at a picture cube their Grandfather had given them that explains what a Christian is. Fletcher looked at Piper and said, "Pipe, do you want to become a Christian?" Piper said yes and they all prayed together.

She also prayed that Jesus would be in our new Guinea Pig's (Indiana Jones) heart. For a 4 year old, her understanding of what this decision means seems totally appropriate - sharing her love for Jesus with those she loves... even if it is just a guinea pig.

At preschool she has been learning about how the heart pumps blood through her body. She then talked about how Jesus is in her heart pumping blood to her fingers and toes. Isn't that a cute picture - Jesus sitting in there making everything works just right.

Her theology probably won't stand up to much scrutiny, but I love the thought. I have a clear picture of becoming a Christian around 5 at a children's church event. So I have no doubt that God can claim the heart of a little one. As she grows up - and works out her faith - I know that there will be times she questions, struggles and searches. Anyone that becomes a Christian as a little child, must grow up in their faith. Thank goodness you don't stay a baby forever, but that means growing pains. Isn't it great that faith is not stagnant, but matures when we do!?

And as she matures, I pray that her decisions will bring her back to this point... where she loves Jesus with all her heart.

Oh Cameron. Completely precious baby girl she is!

I remember the night Peyton came to me and told me that Jesus now lived in her heart. She was so sure and confident of what had happened between the two of them. What a joy it has been to watch the growth from that day.

I am so thankful that you shared this. What a treasure these moments are. What a treasure little Piper is.
