Do you ever have those magical moments? The ones that you just know are special. They are the ones that just show up unexpectedly and are not planned or forced. They are rare and very valuable.
I had one of those mornings. Piper and I went to a friend's house to make cookies. This is another mom that I really enjoy and we always have great conversations - but the time that we have spent together could honestly be counted on both hands. The girls played great and Piper was so excited about cooking - one of her passions. The icing was globbed very artistically (if I was going to name the artistic style I would call it post toddler) all over cookies and fingers - which some how ended up in their mouths.
Randomly we got into a conversation about our faith and how to become the women that Christ made us and desires us to be. The best way that I can describe it was that it was one of the most real, authentic and raw conversations that I have ever had. No agenda, no format - just a connection that I really can not even describe. This conversations was very, very special.
And it boils down to this... that we need to have friends that are constantly pointing us towards Christ. With so much going on every day and so many little things to do and remember and follow up on - that we need someone that reminds us of our foundation and that it is through Christ that we grow into the wives, moms, daughters, sisters and friends that He has created us to be. That He is in control. That our compass is set on Him. That it all comes back to Jesus.
These are all things that I write down weekly in Bible study and hear constantly in church and know in my mind - but we all (or at least I) need a friend to keep pointing us in that direction.
And with my coffee fix met, Piper buzzing from sugar and a plate full of cookies, I left a new person than the one that had arrived that morning - truly magical.
